Active signposting by reception staff is one of NHS England’s 10 High Impact Actions which came out of the GP Forward View.
Care Navigation provides patients with a first point of contact which directs them to the most appropriate source of help. Receptionists acting as care navigators can ensure the patient is booked with the right person first time.
From November all practices in Halton will be following Care Navigation and from Thursday 1st November Oaks Place Surgery will be Care Navigating.

The receptionist might suggest other professionals that could help you better such as: Opticians, Pharmacist, Health & Wellbeing services, Musculoskeletal Service.
